Our standard acid proof bricks are 230 x 114 x 38 mm and 230 x 114 x 75 mm. We also produce 40 mm and thicker bricks to order, and special sizes and thicknesses can be arranged on large or regular quantity orders.
They are manufactured to IS 4860 Class I, with minimum compressive strength of 700 kg per cm2 and minimum flexural strength of 100 kg per cm2, together with controlled warpage, acid resistance and wear limits. The full specification table is given above on this page. Each lot is tested for thermal durability and for resistance to acids and to physical and mechanical shock before despatch.
The 38 mm brick is used for general acid proof lining and flooring duty. The 75 mm brick is used where mechanical load, impact, thermal shock or chemical concentration is higher, for example in vessel and tank lining, pickling tanks and heavy process floors. Send us the chemical, its concentration, the operating temperature and the floor loading and we will confirm the thickness.
The mortar decides the resistance of the finished lining. Furane and phenolic are used for general acid and alkali duty up to 170 C, cashew CNSL up to 190 C, and K silicate where temperatures reach 900 C.
